It’s not like there is impending disaster whenever I walk into the kitchen. It’s usually just when I use the oven…….or the top burners. No matter. I accept that I’m cooking-challenged and friends know not to stand near when I have heated oil in a skillet. My behavior modification is not to learn to be a better cook, but simply to have my burn remedy, centella oil , near by.
The centella oil I use is not an essential oil. It’s a macerate (made soft by soaking), macerated in sweet almond oil, from organic cultivation, Madagascar, and rich in antioxidant properties.
Many herbalists recommend centella oil as a healing agent for sunburns, more serious burns (consult your doctor first), closed wounds to help prevent scarring, new scars (including surgery scars), and to tighten skin. The beliefs are strong that centella oil works by stimulating rejuvenation of underlying connective tissue and nourishing skin in general. I’m a believer after some of my oops, kitchen burns that didn’t blister and healed quickly.
For burns, I apply 3 to 4 times a day. Centella oil is used topically once or twice a day as a anti-aging oil, many people apply it to scars 2 to 3 times a day.
Caution – the oil is not to be used on children without your doctor’s approval.
